August 2008 Day 31

Philippians 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound
yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

 10 That ye may approve things that are excellent;
that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.

DAY 31—Three distinct points of confirmed knowledge.

The concluding verses of I John state three issues that can become settled for a believer.

Firsta believer keeps himself from sin.
Second—a believer’s relationship with God and the world’s relationship with the wicked one.
Third
the sure understanding that has come to us who know Jesus Christ.

Take note that the Greek from which we know comes is a word that defines a knowing that is settled, not to be contradicted by the world, the flesh or the devil.

    I John 5:18-21—We know (oídamen, we know in a way that cannot be denied) that whosoever is born of God sinneth not (does not continue making a practice of sinning); but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself (sets a guard upon himself), and that wicked one toucheth him not (cannot meddle in his life). And we know (oídamen) that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness (lies under the influence of the wicked one). And we know (oídamen) that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true (the true One), and we are in Him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

FATHER, thank You for sending Your Spirit to help me settle my own issues with sin, with the world and with the enemy of our souls. Please teach me how to set up a guard within my spirit against the seducing spirits that are still trying to make their suggestions to my mind. I know they are lies. I am giving myself over to Him that is true. Teach these that I hold before Your Throne that they can be overcomers too.
